Baguio City (29 June) -- It was a touching moment to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Cordillera Administrative Region (BFAR-CAR) led by its Regional Director Rebecca G. Dang-awan as Tabuk Vice Mayor Rainier D. Sarol read city resolution 104-2009 adopting BFAR Director Malcolm I. Sarmiento Jr. as a "son of Tabuk" during the opening rites of the 8th Matagoan Festival and 2nd City Founding Anniversary held last Wednesday, June 24 at the Tabuk City gymnasium. Given the title Pangat with the native name Simangon, which means fortune teller, Director Sarmiento, represented by BFAR Assistant Director Gil A. Adora was adorned the traditional red and black G-string symbolizing bravery and justice by Tabuk City Mayor Camilo Lammawin Jr. |

Tabuk, Kalinga (20 June) -- Seventy rice farmers recently finished a two -month non-formal school-on-the-air class over Radyo ng Bayan here that gained them new technology on post-harvest management. Farm caster Remy Balliyao of the Provincial Agriculturist Office (PAO), who is in-charge of the radio class, said the program is handled under an inter-active module where farmer-listeners send reactions and responses through text messages on topics discussed over the radio. |

Tabuk, Kalinga (20 June) -- To ensure participatory planning and implementation of projects, public consultations in the barangays covered by the Cordillera Highland Agricultural Resource Management (CHARM) 2 are on-going. According to Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Norma Damian, the series of barangay forums are aimed to clear issues and look for solutions on problems that may affect the implementation of CHARM projects. "Consulting the beneficiaries on any development project to be introduced in the community is very basic and has to be done," she said. |

Tabuk, Kalinga (20 June) -- "How we value our independence can be seen from our words and actions." Tabuk City Mayor Camilo Lammawin Jr. underscored this in his message as the country celebrated its 111th Independence Day last June 12. "This year's theme 'Kagitingan, kagalingan at kasipagan tungo sa tunay na kalayaan' reflects fitting courses of actions, which will lead us to our real independence," he said. |
